School Uniform

Just a quick reminder that we do have a school uniform and that children are expected to wear it correctly.  For the winter terms (terms 2/3) students do require the school fleece. This is a compulsory item, particularly for school trips.  Children may wear a rain coat to school but once at school, students need to wear the correct uniform.

Winter uniform:
  • Polo shirt
  • Charcoal fleece jacket with school logo
  • Black trousers, shorts or skirt with no additional colours, piping or logos
  • Optional black, long sleeved top to be worn underneath polo shirt
  • Optional winter beanie with school logo or plain black beanie
  • Suitable shoes
Slippers: students are very welcome to wear slippers in the hubs, provided they are not also worn outside.

Noho Marae

On Friday 24th May, Amesbury School will host its first Noho Marae!

The Noho Marae is a great opportunity for school whanau to come together and take part in a new experience (such as an overnight stay following Māori tikanga, kapahaka activities and Māori games) while celebrating Te Ao Māori. The tamariki have been working hard in their pōwhiri process and what a better way to share this learning than through an authentic, fun and engaging event! Lesley is particularly excited about the hangi! She loves hangi stuffing.

Please do go to the BLOG Post entitled "Amesbury School Noho Marae" and fill out the form to indicate your involvement. We hope that all children will be able to attend.

BOT Elections

Remember... nominations close 16 May and the BOT election, should one be required, will take place 30 May.

Help Needed

Gail is going to be away in England for three weeks this term - 21 May to 7 June. We are wondering whether some parents might be available who could help with reception duties - answering phones, taking messages, doing basic first aide, lunches etc., between the hours of 9 - 3pm. The shifts could be as long or as short as you are able to manage.

Please let Lesley (principal@amesbury.school.nz) know if you think you might be able to help. Thanks for giving this consideration.

Cross Country Races

We are now into Cross Country season. It would be great if your children could get out and do some running training. As well as the usual Primary Schools Cross Country Competitions, we hold our own Junior Cross Country event which other schools are welcome to attend. The following are the dates of the different events:

24 May: 11.30am - 1pm, Amesbury School Cross Country Championship
4 June: Northern Zone Cross Country Championship
14 June: Amesbury Invitational Junior Cross Country Championship
25 June: Interzone Cross Country Championship
9 July: Regional Cross Country Championship
