Our First Noho Marae: Our first Noho Marae was a great success. For many people it was their first hangi. I was surprised to manage a great night’s sleep in the whare (hall). Thanks Chris and Crisanna. For more….

Education Review Office Review: We had ERO in our school this week. The work we had to do prior to their arrival and our time with them gave us an opportunity to be very reflective – especially as we had to sum up what and how we do things here at Amesbury School. The ERO team of three reported back to the Board and senior leaders yesterday afternoon. What they shared with us were their preliminary findings which will be further crafted, peer reviewed and moderated before we receive a draft report in about 4 weeks. As the report stands now, it is a very positive outcome.

Enrolments at Raroa Intermediate: Parents of year 6 students will be thinking of where to next year for their children. Raroa Intermediate has provided us with information about the various opportunities to explore the Raroa option. http://amesburydrive.blogspot.co.nz/2013_06_01_archive.html

Gail is back: We missed Gail dreadfully, and hope she had a great trip away.  However, we were extremely well served by Jo, Mary Jane, Vicki, Amaria, Karen  and Sharon who took over reception duties in Gail’s absence. Thank you all so much for your help and support during quite a pressured time. You were amazing!

Recapitation: We have seen evidence of schools consulting with their school communities regarding recapitation. The process is continuing.

Our High Five: There have been some interesting conversations generated by “Our High Five”. In particular, does a commitment to “Connecting and Including” mean that children always have to let other children into their games? This question sounds deceptively simple, but at heart is very complex. It will be good to explore this with parents at one of our community evenings. http://amesburydrive.blogspot.co.nz/2013/05/our-high-five-valuesprinciples-and.html

Amesbury School Invitational Cross Country Championships for years 1 - 3: 1.30pm, Friday, 14 June. Remember to bring a change of clothes to school. The track may be quite muddy if there is rain this week. http://amesburydrive.blogspot.co.nz/2013/06/amesbury-school-junior-invitational.html
