This term, all of the students in Harakeke have been
busy learning the songs for the Artsplash festival run by the
Wellington City Council. On Monday night, 55 students performed at the
Michael Fowler Centre alongside a range of other schools from the
greater Wellington region.
We sang 13 songs, accompanied by an
orchestra from Chilton St James. There was also a band and a dance
group to add to the entertainment.
The students all performed beautifully and had a
great time singing in front of a huge audience. There were some real
groovers in the Amesbury choir during 'Stayin' Alive'. This song was a
personal favourite of most of the students.
Their muppet sock puppets looked absolutely fantastic when we sang 'Life's a Happy Song' from 'The Muppet Movie'.
Big congratulations must go to Sharmani Draper, Ryan Topp,
Caitlin Collins and Anaiya Bhola who accompanied the massed choir on
their ukuleles for the Hawaiian song 'Pearly Shells'.
They did
themselves and the school proud.
Well done Amesbury School!
