Last Wednesday a powhiri was held to welcome Pio Terei to Amesbury School. After the powhiri four students (Ethan, Jasmine, Matt and Caitlin) showed Pio around Harakeke Hub and the Library. They explained how their timetables worked and talked about their learning with him. Ethan said Pio kept saying "this is cool" and "what an awesome school".
The show, later that night, was well attended and a great success. Here are a few comments from those attending:

friend invited me to come along tonight to the Parents Inc. seminar at
your school. I just wanted to say thank you so much for a great
evening. My three children were in the library
for the evening. Could you please pass on my thanks to the young people
who were looking after them. They were all so polite and willing to
look out for the kids. Thanks for opening up your school in this way."
"Bringing up kids well and having fun with them is just the best thing you can do" - Pio.
