A message from Celia Wade-Brown, Mayor of Wellington “Walking for Peace”

Kia Ora,

I very much hope that you are free and can join us for what should be a memorable evening with speeches to provide food for thought and entertainment to lift the spirits.

On International Women's Day we should celebrate Women and our journey so far. There is much progress but there is still so much to do.

·         we need to ensure the right of the girl child to education
·         we have to stamp out sexual violence against women especially in conflict zones where
rape is used as a weapon of war
·         and improve female representation on boards and in professions where women are
      under-represented.

I do hope you can join me, to add your voice and support to these causes on International Women's Day, Saturday 8 March, at Shed 6 from 6 pm to 8pm.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Nga mihinui ki a Koe

Na

Celia Wade-Brown

Mayor of Wellington
