Churton Park Community Centre - What's On to 29 June 2014

Hi Everyone

This week it’s Churton Park Community Centre’s First Birthday! Who can believe it’s been a whole year! I thought you might be interested in all the things we’ve achieved as a community via CPCC this year, so check out the attached info graphic which details some of our milestones! Thanks to each and every one of you who have helped build this Centre into a humming little place to be!

  • ** Quest 4 Wellness June Seminar ** - this month Dr Gloria Hettige will be sharing her extensive knowledge on inflammation, its causes and latest treatment options. Tuesday 24th June at 7.30pm. $5 to cover costs. RSVP your attendance to 027 442 7866. See the attached flyer for more information
  • ** 360 Degrees Men’s Fitness Special Offer ** - Ladies, do you have a man in your life in need of a little fitness motivation?  360 Degree Fitness is running Men’s fitness sessions at Tawa and Churton Park Community Centres. Email david@360degreefitness.co.nz and let us know in 50 words or less why your guy deserves (needs!) to win 5 free group fitness sessions with us. The best answer will win 5 free men’s group fitness sessions for you to give to he who needs a little helping hand with his activity levels!  Please add your name and suburb where you live. Results will be published on our Facebook page (facebook.com/360degreefitness) on Monday 30 June.
  • ** Self-Defence Fundraiser ** -  empower yourself and raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation with a “Self-Defence for Life” half-day workshop at Churton Park Community Centre on Saturday 28th June 2 – 6.30pm. $50 waged or $35 unwaged.   • ** These Girls Mean Business ** - Our next event is on Friday 27th June at 11.30am at the Churton Park Community Centre. We’re going to be looking at social media tools that you can use to advertise your business. So come along, have a cuppa and get some practical information.
  • ** BodEvolve Circuit ** the Thursday evening BodEvolve Circuit class has been cancelled until further notice due to low numbers.

COMING SOON – MARK YOUR CALENDARS
  • ** School Holiday Classes ** - we have had four School Holiday Classes added to our programme this week:
    1. Felted Pictures – Wednesday 9th July 11.15am -12.30pm, $15 per child (see attached flyer)
    2. Yoga for Kids – Wednesday 9th July, 2-2.30pm, $10 per child
    3. Crafty Fish & Chips Fridays – on both Fridays of the holidays (11th and 18th July). Join our crafters for three exciting craft activities followed by Fish & Chips from Takeaway Churton for lunch. Make awesome craft projects like catapults, snow globes and felted snakes. $36 per child (more details on the attached flyers)
    4. Funclay Classes – due to heavy demand, two more Funclay classes have been added – please see attached flyers.

  • ** Arthritis New Zealand Clinics ** - Come along to one of our arthritis group clinics on Wednesday 2nd July, run by Arthritis New Zealand. Learn how to manage pain, stress, fatigue, discuss exercise, diet and much more.
    1. 10:00am-11:00am – Osteoarthritis
    2. 12:00pm-1:00pm   -Rheumatoid arthritis /Fibromyalgia/Polymyalgia Rheumatica
    3. 2:00pm-3:00pm – Gout

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
Is anyone interested in a social craft get together once a month? I have someone interested in co-ordinating a get together where you bring whatever craft your working on and get together for company and inspiration. We’re interested in knowing if you’d prefer a daytime or evening time? Let me know if you are interested.

  • **Capital Harmony Chorus Learn to Sing Course ** - Capital Harmony Chorus are running a four week learn to sing course, starting on Monday 23rd June, 7.30pm at Churton Park School. Contact Margaret on 027 247 8047 for more information.

** Matariki Story Time ** Join us at Newlands Community Centre 10:30am next Thursday 26 June for a Matariki Storytime to celebrate Maori New Year, which starts on 28 June when Matariki cluster of stars rises in the pre-dawn sky. It's a time to remember the past and celebrate the future.

** Tawa Rotary Annual Book Fair ** is coming up on the 28-29 June/05-06 July.  Saturday's 9am-4pm and Sunday's 10am-3pm at the Tawa New World mall.
