Churton Park Community Centre - What's On to July 27

For what’s coming up next week, please click here.  I have had a number of enquiries about yoga and pilates at CPCC this week, please see more information below on these classes.

ON NEXT WEEK
§         ** Restorative Fitness Classes at CPCC ** - there is a developing trend towards restorative fitness classes that focus on relaxation, stress-relief and strength. We have a wide selection here at CPCC:
o       Pilates with Churton Park Physio – classes run on Monday and Thursdays 9.30 – 10.30am and Wednesdays 6-7pm. Contact Churton Park Physio (478 7010) for more information and to book in your free 15 minute assessment prior to starting classes.
o       Pilates with Natasha from BodEvolve – classes run on Mondays 6 – 7pm and Wednesdays 10 – 11am. Contact Natasha on 027 292 3944 for more information.
o       Yoga with Diane – gentle yoga. Classes run on Mondays 12-1pm and Tuesdays 6.15-7.15pm. Through out these classes you will be encouraged to work at your own pace. Contact Diane to register: 0274 210 775
o       Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Romina – a more active style of yoga. Thursdays 6 – 6.55pm. Contact Romina to enrol: 027 253 2534
o       Tai Chi with Janet – a gentle tai chi session, great for those suffering from arthritis. Thursdays 10.30 – 12.
o       Tai Chi with Mercedes – an active tai chi class, with champion Mercedes Godinez on Saturday mornings 9-10am. Contact Mercedes for more information: 021 0259 5677.

§         ** Open Table Tennis Sessions ** - a second open table tennis session has been added on Tuesdays from 12 – 2pm. $2 to play. Thursday sessions will continue at the same time – 12 – 2pm.

§         ** Acoustic Guitar Lessons ** - Term three 2014 starts next week! Phil will be back with his reasonably priced small group guitar lessons for players aged 8+ (adults also!) - Wednesday afternoons from 3.30 - 5.30. §         ** 5th Avenue Collection Pop Up Shop – Friday 25thJuly 12 – 4pm. Have you heard of Fifth Avenue Collection? Vicky Gilchrist will be bringing a fabulous selection of their jewellery to the Community Centre on Friday, 25 July from 12-4 pm so pop in and see her and make the most of their July special - Buy One Get One Half Price! §         ** Fairy Dance ** - did you see the cute article in this week’s Independent Herald on Fairy Dance, our dance class for toddlers? (www.independenthearlad.co.nz page 14). If you’d like to enrol your tot in either Monday or Saturday’s class, contact Ms Tracey: 027 890 0164.

§         ** Quest 4 Wellness ** July Seminar, Tuesday 29thJuly 7.30 – 8.30pm. This month’s focus is on Managing Childhood Related Epidemics. See attached for more information.

§         ** Early Explorers Community Playgroup ** - A special request to the community: CPCC has a new community playgroup starting in early August especially for Under 18 month olds. To help us set up this group, we are asking if you have any toys suitable for under 18 month olds that are still in very good condition and that you would be happy to donate to help get the playgroup established, we would be most grateful. Donations can be dropped to CPCC between 10 - 2pm weekdays. Playgroup will run every Wednesday from 1.30 – 2.30pm from August 4th.   • ** Work from home: Dicta Typists wanted for UK based work ** - NightOffice.com is an overnight UK based dictation service. They are looking for up to 3 New Zealand operatives to work during our daytime on digital dictation assignments. The work can all be done from home. They provide the software and templates. Hours are variable depending on workflow – but start from 1 hour minimum a day. You must be a competent dicta typist with good typing speed and accuracy. You must have your own computer, broadband internet and Microsoft Word/Excel software at a minimum.   • ** Lakewood Reserve Planting Project ** - Help enhance the green heart of Churton Park: Lakewood Reserve.The Churton Park revegetation group is now working with WCC to help with the ongoing planting in this area. Planting and mulching afternoons at Lakewood Reserve are scheduled for Saturdays 26 July and 9 August, commencing at 1pm. Come along and lend a hand! No experience required - only enthusiasm. Meet at theTennis Court carpark, off Lakewood Ave.  Tools and gloves are available, but bring your own if possible.  For further information please contact John Morrison 477 1020 or revegetation@churtonpark.org.nz

  • **Rhee Taekwondo ** - Did you know you could learn Taekwondo right here in Churton Park? Taekwondo is the safe, fun and challenging way for your kids to learn skills, get fit and gain confidence with a splash of discipline and respect! Amesbury School Hall: Mondays 6.30 - 7.30pm all ages/grades; Johnsonville Community Centre Hall: Tues/Thurs 6.00 - 7.00pm all ages/grades:
§         First three lessons free - try before you pay anything
§         Fees from only $10 per week all inclusive
§         Avoid the winter sport blues - no cancellations!

  • ** Free Yoga Class with Romina ** - Romina is teaching a complimentary yoga class at Lululemon on Lambton Quay at 8.30am this Sunday morning 20th July. They will provide mats - all you need to do is rock up and be ready to Vinyasa Flow at 8.30am till 9.30am. Class style is Vinyasa Flow - a bit of everything. Nice practice to energise for the rest of the day. The location is the old Glassons' store (now lulu) at 276 Lambton Quay,Wellington.

FROM NEWLANDS COMMUNITY CENTRE
Whakanuia te Wiki o Te Reo Māori! Celebrate Māori Language Week! Come to Newlands Community Centre for stories and songs in the Māori language. Great for preschoolers and their families. Everyone welcome. Where: Newlands Community Centre, 9 Batchelor St, Newlands. When: Thursday 24 July, 2.00-2.30 pm

FROM TAWA COMMUNITY CENTRE
Come along to our baby-sing-along at the Tawa Community Centre on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10.15am, followed by morning tea and a play afterwards.  Koha donation appreciated.  Reccomended age from birth-3 years.
