Recapitation Declined Again

It will come as no surprise to anyone that our application to recapitate to include year 7/8 has been declined. Once again Minister Parata's comment that, "Other than increasing year 7 -8 choice for Amesbury parents, she was not convinced that educational gains would be made if she approved your application" has been reiterated in the letter we received from Katrina Casey, Deputy Secretary, Sector Enablement and Support.

The letter finished with the same advice that the last letter ended with, "At this time in your school's development, I would encourage your school Board to continue to focus on delivery of high quality education to Year 1 - 6 children, and cementing Amesbury School's place in the local schooling network."

Katrina Casey makes it clear that our application was declined because the three schools (Raroa, Newlands and Churton Park School) have continued to oppose our application and that there will be no point in applying again unless there is a change in our local schooling network.

The Board will continue to consider its options.
