Holiday Funclub: Baking and Craft Holiday Programmes for children aged from 4 - 10 are being offered by Hayley Balmer, a teacher, in Redwood, Tawa on 8 & 9 October. Each 3 hour session is different and children can come for as many sessions as they like. "Microbirthhttp://microbirth.com premieres on Saturday 27th September 2014 at City Gallery, Wellington @7.30pm.  It is a fundraiser event for a Birth Centre and breastfeeding cafe in the capital city.  The Microbirth event will also feature a panel of local experts giving their views on the documentary which explores why caesarean section is associated with increased rates of asthma, Type 1 diabetes, obesity, Crohn's disease and Coeliac disease in those children and what might reduce these harms in any method of birth.  Tickets can be purchased through http://www.eventfinder.co.nz/2014/microbirth-screening/wellington

John Kirwan Wellington event for Stand By Me: Helping your teen through tough timesThe father of three teenagers, and an advocate for depression awareness, Sir John Kirwan will be in Wellington for an author event this October.
Learning to navigate feelings of teenage anxiety and depression is the subject of his new book, "Stand By Me: Helping your teen through tough times".
"The goal of this book is to help give people the knowledge and courage to be active and supportive,” says JK. “I’m a dad and I’m looking to share answers from the professionals, and the kids, their mums, dads, and their other supporters who’ve all been there.”

Olympic Junior Athletics Club - Registrations open from this Saturday 13 September
The Olympic Junior Athletics Club is based at Grenada North Park, Tawa over the summer.  Our club nights for 4 to 14 year olds start Monday 3 November from 5.30pm to 6.45pm.  A range of training options are also available pre season and throughout the season for all age groups including college and uni students.  These are held on other week day afternoons.  Our registration day is Saturday 13 September from 11am to 1pm at the Olympic Harrier clubrooms, Alex Moore Park, Bannister Avenue, Johnsonville.  Or you an register online from 13 September until 17 October.  For more info go to www.olympicharriers.org.nz/childrens-athletics or contact Jo Murray on 021 976116 or coaching@olympicharriers.org.nz

Kids Cross Country Series

The Children's Bookshop - Upcoming Literary Events
Popular Australian author Jacqueline Harvey (Clementine Rose/ Alice Miranda) will be at The Children’s Bookshop in Kilbirnie Plaza at 4pm on Wednesday September 3rd to meet her readers and sign her books. All are welcome, free to attend, no requirement to book, children may bring their own books for signing.
Skulduggery Pleasant author Derek Landy will be speaking at Scots College at 5.30pm on October 3rd. $10 adult or child or  $33 for copy of The Dying of the Light (normally $28) + ticket.  All profits to Save the Children.

$20 per session per child (book as many as you'd like).  Morning tea and all equipment supplied for all children, feel free to look around our store while your child is enjoying themselves.
FREE coffee/ tea for caregiver at Café Thyme with food purchase and a 10% discount voucher for any children’s gardening items (purchased on the day).
What's on when: All our classes include growing plants or micro greens!  Monday = Fairy or dinosaur garden, Tuesday = “Cress the Caterpillar” or “Micro the Dragon” (your own growing pet!), Wednesday = Christmas hanging tub (maybe a gift for your grandparents or parents), Thursday = There's Gnome Place Like Home - fairy or gnome doors with mini micro pot, Friday = Vegetable garden with signs.
