Futsal - a post from Merrick

It is great to see so many kids playing football at the school. Merrick, our sports teacher is keen for the school to enter some Futsal (5 a-side football) teams in the league that runs in term 4. We could play at either...
ASB Centre Kilbirnie (Wellington City) Sundays from 1:30pm Indoors
Ascot Park (Western) Sundays from 11am Outdoors on turf
Futsal is 5 a-side on a small court with a smaller slightly heavier ball (not bouncy) that is great for improving foot skills.
The leagues start on Sunday 2nd November and run until Sunday 7th December.
All games are 40 minutes long (2 x 20 minute halves) and each hub has a court manager and referees.
We have two leagues running: Under 11's and Under 13's.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact natalie@capitalfootball.org.nz.
ASB Sports Centre are giving away 10x $100.00 Kilbirnie Sports gift vouchers if you sign up in any of our programmes before the 6th October 2014. So  lets get organised quick.
Merrick will coach them (a couple of U11 Yr 4-6 mixed teams hopefully will be entered). The final make up (age wise and girl/boy ratios) of the teams will be confirmed once we have numbers sorted and have talked to Capital Futsal.
Merrick will organise practices at school as well as being there on the day but will need parent help (for example if the game times clash) with coaching and management.
Players will need to be really committed and willing to practice and have a great High 5 attitude.
This is a great chance to represent the school, make new friends and improve your skills. ;-)

Let’s get kicking!

There is also the possibility depending on the age ranges of those keen for
Amesbury students from last year to put in an older U13 team but this will be confirmed later.
Younger students playing in a separate league  (I will talk to Natalie who I know well at Capital Futsal) perhaps even just local with in North Wellington using our school gym.

Merrick’s contact is Merrick.keenan@amesbury.school.nz and 0274 195 778. He is a bit football mad and currently works for North Wellington (who run holiday programs and a term 4 program (1/week). He has coached professionally for many years at Nth Wgtn, Wests, Karori, Upper Hutt and Island Bay at both junior and senior level with females and males as well as for Fast Feet, Karori and Ole Academy as well as District and Federation Representative levels.
