Community Engagement Group Meets

On Wednesday evening, 18th February, a small but enthusiastic group of parents and BOT members met to discuss ways that school community members could contribute and engage with the school and with each other.

One thing on the agenda was fundraising for our new adventure playground. However, the group agreed that the main purpose for the group was not fundraising. This is not a PTA. The priority, as identified by the group, is the ongoing development of community. We are wanting to provide community members opportunities to get together in a variety of ways and, as a result, to continue to grow strong community.

The members of the group have great ideas and things they would like to see happen. However, they realise that lots of people in our school community have good ideas, but don't always feel able to actually do them. So, most importantly, the group wants to be a conduit for the good ideas you have. They are keen to hear them and to provide you with support to carry them out.

If you have any good ideas, please do get in contact with Lorraine Walmsley (walmsleylorraine@gmail.com) or Frances Lear (frances.lear@gmail.com) or any other member of the group and they will help you pull together a group of people to work with you on your idea.

Some things coming up include:

*Parents-share-a-skill/talent (a programme of presentations etc.)
*Walking Bus (already underway)
*Noticeboard in Reception
*School disco (fundraising)
*Afternoon tea at school
*School cookbook
*Quiz night - fundarising
*International festival
*Book exchange
