Future proofing your child

The Habits of Mind Thinking DispositionsThe Habits of Mind Thinking Dispositions — by admin Amesbury School

An interesting and thought-provoking presentation from our guest speaker, Karen Boyes, at the Community Evening on Wednesday ...

Karen reminded us of how different the world is for children growing up today, compared to just 30 years ago, and how important it is to prepare them with the type of skills that will help them to succeed in a very different future.  In particular, she shared the 16 Habits of Mind Thinking Dispositions, which we've included in case you didn't get a card at the Community Evening.

A Habit of Mind means having a disposition towards behaving intelligently when confronted with problems that the answers are not immediately apparent.

Whilst we can't necessarily educate children for jobs that may not even exist, we can all help to develop their ways of thinking, approach and determination.

Here's a clip Karen forwarded that you may have seen on youtube showing a glimpse of how the world may be in 2028...    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpEFjWbXog0
