Playground opened!

Independent Herald - Wednesday 10 FebIndependent Herald - Wednesday 10 Feb — by admin Amesbury School

The Wellington weather couldn't have come at a better time - since it's opening last week, the new playground has seen a lot of action.

Last Tuesday Deputy Mayor, Justin Lester opened the playground and, as trustees of the Johnsonville Charitable Trust, he and Tracy Hurst-Porter presented Lesley with a cheque for $25,000 to go towards the cost of purchasing it.

Along with the Johnsonville Charitable Trust, and the community that have supported our many fundraising events, we would like to thank The Trusts Community Foundation, Hutt Mana Charitable Trust, Pelorus Trust and NZ Community Trust for their generous funding towards the playground.

We've had great community support for this project and appreciate the endorsements from New World, CP Community Association, CP Community Centre, Guardian First National and WCC, that accompanied our funding applications.

Of course none of this would have happened without the playground team that worked with our Board of Trustees to design, supply and install such a fantastic playground - Mark Newdick Landscape Architects, Playco and Hayes Landscaping.
