Girls Only Futsal Festival

image

On Tuesday (13th September), we took a group of enthusiastic girls to the ASB Sports Centre for a day of fun, fair play and futsal.

The Girls Only Futsal Festival was designed to give girls of all ages and abilities the chance to 'have a go' at futsal. We took two Year 3-4 teams and one Year 5-6 team. Each team played four or five different teams from a range of schools in Wellington. The aim of the festival was to 'have a go', so the teams, mostly, self-refereed and the scores were not recorded.

For a number of our Amesbury girls, this was their first experience with football, and it was great seeing them improve throughout the day, as individuals and as team players. They all seemed to have a lot of fun and they finished the day with as much energy and enthusiasm as they started the day.

A big thank you to all the parents who helped out on the day - driving the girls to and from Kilbirnie and  staying around to support the team. A special thank you to Vivian Tse, Garth Hayward and Richard Bourne for being team managers. You did a fantastic job of making sure the teams made it to their games on time and making sure the girls were fairly subbed. Also, a big thank you to Brian Vincent (Bella's grandad) for taking photos throughout the day.
