School remains open for Paid Union Meetings

As you may be aware, principal and teacher pay negotiations have been underway over the last few weeks. The Ministry of Education has made an offer to Principals and there are a couple more days of negotiations for teachers.

As a result, Paid Union Meetings have been set up for principals and teachers to consider the offers later in June.

Teachers attended a Paid Union Meeting last term and we were very appreciative of your wonderful support of this. Most of you took your children home for the afternoon and a small group of us were able to take care of the children that remained for the afternoon.

However, for the next round of Paid Union Meetings, there are more choices about when and where teachers attend these meetings and we are able to organise for all eligible teachers to attend a meeting while also keeping the school fully open.

Hence, it will be business-as-usual for this next round of Paid Union Meetings - school services will continue as usual. We did not want to disrupt your lives again, given that there is the possibility of disruption in the future, depending on the outcome of the Paid Union Meetings.

Nga mihi
