Year 5 & 6 Camp 2018 - Forest Lakes, Otaki

This is the second and final information email for the Year 5 and 6 senior camp to Forest Lakes, Otaki.

The Year 5 and 6 camp will take place from Monday 26 November - Friday 30 November 2018 (Week 7, Term 4). The location for this camp will be Forest Lakes, Otaki. We will be staying here.

Travel:

We will be travelling by bus between Amesbury School and Forest Lakes. We will leave Amesbury School on Monday 26 November at 9:00am, so we ask students and parents to be at school by 8:30am. We will leave Forest Lakes at approximately 1:00pm and expect to back at Amesbury School by 2:30pm. If we are likely to be more than 30 minutes early or late, we will ask the office to send out a message to parents.

Camp Programme:

Activities have been planned with the Forest Lakes camp coordinators to ensure the activities are age and ability appropriate. Below is the outline of the activities planned.

Monday - Travel by bus to Forest Lakes. Settle in at camp and orientation. Time to explore the area, including a short walk.

*Please send your child with both morning tea and lunch today as this will not be provided at camp on Monday. We would also appreciate it if your child could bring baking, a bag of chips or a bag of fruit for shared morning and afternoon teas throughout the week.

Tuesday - Rotations: horse walk, archery/speedminton, nature trail and swimming. Camp activities over the evening.

Wednesday - Lake Walk and water activities. Camp activities over the afternoon and evening.

Thursday - Rotations: kayak, gladiator, orienteering and swimming. Camp activities over the evening.

Friday - Camp pack up and final clean. Free play. Travel by bus back to Amesbury School.

*All activities will have the required number of adults monitoring students.

Camp Payment: Thank you all for making your payments.

Please note your child will not need any money for this trip as all activities will be at camp. Your child will also not need a mobile phone. If you would like to contact your child, please feel free to send a text message to one of the teachers who are on camp and we will get back to you when we are able to. Our mobile numbers are listed below.

Adults on camp: We have six adults staying at the camp for the whole week - Demelza, Kalesha, Kieron, Mark Dray, Cyril Olsen and Andrew Paul.

Contact Information: The main contact person for this camp will be Demelza. Kalesha or Kieron will be the next point of contact. Please be aware that we will be very busy over the duration of camp, so the best form of contact with us is texting, as this means we can pick the messages up when when we are able to. In the event of an emergency, please phone the camp office on (06) 364 8218.
