BOT Elections - a welcome and a farewell

Amesbury School
Board of Trustees Election
Declaration of Parent and Staff Election Results

The following, along with the principal and staff rep. Matt Ives, will make up the Amesbury Board of Trustees for the next 3 years.

Bunting, John
Dunbar, Steve
Law, Simon
Walmsley, Lorraine
Walters, David

A big welcome to Simon Law who will be on the Board for the first time. Also, thanks to Mark Gilchrist who put himself forward for the Board but was not successful. We really appreciate your willingness to take part in this democratic process.

We wish to acknowledge Roger Ellis who has been been an establishment board member of the school since it first convened in in 2009. He then stood for election in 2012 and carried on serving for a year as a parent-elected representative in order to assist the transition from EBOT to parent-elected board.

Roger, we have really appreciated your involvement in the school. You have brought a very useful perspective and a huge set of skills to the Board. Thank you so much for your very thoughtful contributions and for your support and encouragement. We will miss you very much and wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

Below is a comment that Roger added to a BLOG post. I thought it would make sense to include it here.

I want to acknowledge those candidates who have offered themselves for election to the Amesbury Board of Trustees. It's an important part of a vital healthy learning environment. After two terms on the Board (including three years on the Establishment Board) I have decided not to seek re-election. However, I do want to sincerely thank the parent community for their support. I also want to thank all the other Board members and the wonderful teaching team at Amesbury for bringing to life 21st century learning. I plan to stay in touch with the Amesbury school community and look forward to seeing the school go from strength to strength.
Regards Roger Ellis (Board Trustee 2009-13)
