Sign up for 2014 Music Classes at Encore! School of Music.
Our excellent music classes are for All Ages (Toddlers to Adults!) and all musical backgrounds!
We offer a wide variety of Individual and Group Music Classes including piano, keyboard, guitar, ukulele, drums, bass guitar, flute, recorder, saxophone, clarinet, violin, music theory, band and pre-school music. 
Classes are held at Amesbury School on Saturdays (and Johnsonville, Mt Victoria & Brooklyn during the week)

**ENCORE! KIDS CLASSES (5-11 year olds)**
These group music classes aim to strengthen your kids' musical foundation by teaching them the basics of playing musical instruments like the keyboard, ukulele, recorder and percussive instruments.  Your kids will also learn music theory and concepts through fun and interactive musical activities!
It's a great way to introduce your children to music and different instruments!
$15.90 per 45 min weekly class during school term. Max 10 kids per class.

**ENCORE! TOTS MUSIC CLASSES (1-5 year olds)**
Encore! Tots Music are fun, interactive music education classes that introduce your children to the basics of music.  They will begin to learn the basics of pitch and rhythm as well as controlling tempo and volume.  We also introduce them to a variety of percussive instruments – it’s certainly one of the highlights for the kids!  
For 1-3 year olds, we have a Rhythm and Rhyme class where we teach kids these basic musical concepts through nursery rhymes, action & dance songs and fun musical games.  For 3-5 year olds, we have an Introduction to Music Class where we further build and develop their understanding; we even introduce basic music theory concepts to help build their musical foundation!  
$6.90 per 30 minute weekly class during school term.  Max 10 kids per class.

**NEW CLASSES - GROUP KEYBOARD LESSONS (All Ages)**
We're offering group keyboard lessons in the new year.  There are 3-5 students in each class grouped according to age and abilities. Let us know if you're keen!
$15 per 30 min weekly class during school term.

IRISH DANCING CLASSES in KHANDALLAH
ReelJig Irish Dancers is offering classes at Khandallah Town Hall on Friday afternoons with registered teacher Laura Kelly.

Churton Park Community Centre - What's on to Feb 9th

Hi Everyone

Great to see some more ‘summer-like’ weather this week! It’s a busy week next week with many of our classes re-starting for the year. A quick reminder that Tai chi with Mercedes starts tomorrow morning at 9am and that Waitangi Day is on Thursday, so the Centre will be closed. There will be no Pilates with Churton Park Physio, Table Tennis and Circuit with BodEvolve on Waitangi Day. For a full run down on what’s coming up next week, please click here.

** Edible Gardeners Group**
Our inaugural Edible Gardeners Club meeting is next Tuesday evening at 7.30pm here at Churton Park Community Centre.  Everything you need to know about creating an edible garden at home with the wonderful Therese who featured in this week’s Independent Herald! ** Playsense Early Learning Baby Groups **
Due to popular demand and thanks to the generous sponsorship of Churton Park New World, the Playsense Early Learning Baby Groups will now be happening every Tuesday morning during term time from 10 - 11am, here at CPCC. Mark your diaries and tell your friends! Bring your under-18-month old along for fun and stimulating activities and social interaction for you! ** Mahjong **
We had a record turn out for Mahjong this week to start off 2014. Welcome to the girls from Newlands Community Centre, who joined our regulars to play. Numbers were so big, Janet, Marie and Patsy had to set up an overflow table in reception! If you'd like to join the Mahjong fun on Mondays, please contact cpcc@wcc.govt.nz for more information. All are welcome!

** Stellar Fitness **
Kat will be back with her fantastic boxing class on Tuesdays at 12.30 and Tabata on Wednesdays at 1.40. Both are energetic classes with a motivating teacher – heaps of fun! Contact Kat on 021 0260 6073 if you have specific questions.

** Pottery **
For those looking for a creative outlet, Pottery classes start on Friday from 11.30 -1pm. Please contact Jo for more information:jo.honey.thomas@gmail.com.

** Acoustic Guitar Lessons **
Classes kick off on Wednesday and there are still a few places left. Lessons are for over-8 year olds and you will need to bring your own guitar. Please see the attachment for more information.

** 500 Club **
Mary and the team are back for more 500 in 2014 and would love some new players to join them on Thursday afternoons from 1pm to play. No experience necessary! Contact me for more information – cpcc@wcc.govt.nz.

** Yoga with Diane **

** Chinese New Year Celebrations **
Gong Xi Fa Cai! Pop into the Centre and check out the amazing decorations that Janet, Soon and May have put up to help us celebrate Chinese New Year 2014 – Year of the Horse. The place looks amazing! Please pencil into your diaries Tuesday 11thFebruary 10 – 12pm – we will be having a celebration in the Centre with special performances. Please bring a plate to share – all are welcome!

** Quest 4 Wellness February Seminar **
Tuesday 11th February, 7.30 for a 7.45 start. Dr Gloria Hettige , Chartered Natural Medicine Practitioner with over eight years experience will be sharing on:  Advances in common digestive disorder treatments.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
** Golf Group **
Thanks to those of you last year who said you were interested in a Churton Park Golf Group. I now have a little more detail: The group will be a weekly group, playing on Thursday mornings, starting from March 13th. Play would take place at Ohariu Valley Golf Club. COMMUNITY NOTICES
** Did you get a new phone for Christmas? **
Your old phone could help new parents. Wellington North Parents Centre is recycling old mobile phones to raise funds to provide quality antenatal and parent education to local parents. From 3 February until 3 March, you can donate your old mobile phone at collection points across Wellington, including CPCC. For more information go to www.wnpc.org.nz. All donations are greatly appreciated.  The phone doesn't need to work.

FROM NEWLANDS COMMUNITY CENTRE
Newlands Community Centre have their lovely Community Lawyers coming in for a free clinic next Wed 5 Feb from 11am-1pm. If you need some legal advice ring up and book a slot or just pop in on the day.
