Churton Park Community Centre - What's On to March 23rd

Hi Everyone

Wow, it was so great to see so many of you here on Saturday at the Festival – the organisers were overwhelmed with the turnout and who would have placed money on the weather being that fantastic! I’d like to say a personal thanks to some special people who gave up their time to help out both in the lead up to the event and on the day: Sandra Yeldon, Ruth Stephen, Sam Bennett, Justin Lester and James Holford. Thanks team!

We had photographers from the Churton Park Photography Club taking photos of the Festival. Links to these photos are here:

  • ** Matkot Tournament ** - did you get a chance to try out Matkot at the Churton Park Festival? I did and it was addictive good fun! Alexey and Dimitry are organising a Community Matkot Tournament on Saturday 29th March here in the Village from 4.30pm. Weather permitting the tournament will take place outside Simmer Café in the car park (if the weather is bad, it will be inside the Community Centre). Since March 29th is Neighbours Day, why not grab a few neighbours, put together a team and come down for some fun! You’ll be able to grab a drink from Simmer and a bite to eat from any of our delicious takeaway shops, so make an afternoon of it. A registration form is attached and also some information about the tournament and the rules of the game. Let me stress you need no experience nor do you really need any skill to have fun at this game. Anyone 8+ years can play.

  • ** Dog Walking Group ** - our March Dog Walking group will be heading out on Sunday 30th March at 10am (meet on the grass area in front of New World). Check out the attached flyer for more information and contact Vicky to register your interest: vickymg@facmail.com

  • ** School Holiday Programme ** - I’m just putting the final touches on the April School Holiday Programme. Watch this space!

Get in touch if you're keen: cpcc@wcc.govt.nz.  Thanks to those of you who have already been in touch via Facebook. (See http://wellington.govt.nz/your-council/news/2013/07/be-ready-to-get-through-a-quake for more information on these).

  • ** Beginners Golf Group ** - Keen to join the Churton Park Golf Group, but you’re an absolute beginner? We’re currently working with the Ohariu Golf Club to come up with something for you, so let me know if you’d like further information on this.

  • ** Kids Birthday Parties ** - I still have some weekend spaces available for kids birthday parties in April and May. Our party rate is $26/hour and there is a refundable bond payment required.
