Communication at Amesbury School

There are several ways the school will communicate with you.

1. Email -
  • You will receive emails from eTAP (our student management system) which go out to all parents. On occasion these have gone straight into some people's spam folder. If you think you are not receiving these emails, please check your spam folder. If this is happening, we can assist you to change your account settings so that this no longer happens. Please feel free to contact us regarding this.
  • You will receive emails from-time-to time from Urs and Angela, our hub leaders.
  • You will receive emails, from time-to-time from your child's whanau teacher or another teacher, or, on occasion, from Lesley, the principal.
  • The Office will email you with invoices and account information and other important matters.
  • In general, email will be used when communication is urgent/time-bound or when we want to personalise communication.
NOTE: Some people have had difficulty keeping up with the emails they receive. We strongly                          suggest you put all emails received from the school in a folder for easy access if you
require the information again. The problem with emails is that once they are off the                              page, they tend to be out of mind and very hard to find again. Shortly, we are going to
upgrade our website to create an archive to store important information such as camp
and trip newsletters for easy access by parents.

2. Amesbury BLOGS: We have two of these.
  • One is the Amesbury Learning BLOG which is a record of the two hubs' journey. This is much more related to students, their learning and their activities. Students and teachers create the content shared on this BLOG. We really encourage parents to comment on these BLOGposts.
  • The Amesbury BLOG is more administrative and provides important information and notices for parents as well community notices.
  • You can sign up for both these BLOGS and receive daily update emails giving you links to the latest content. If you don't want to subscribe to these emails, then please do check the BLOGs frequently or you might miss out on important content plus it is great to know what your children are up to.
3. Facebook: We have a facebook page: Current Facebook Page. It is a bit confusing because we appear to have two facebook pages. This is the link to the one we are currently using. Lots of people like accessing school information via Facebook. This tends to be more informal information about the school and what is happening.

4. The Amesbury Digest: This is emailed out every two weeks or so and pulls together information from all these sources, so that you have what is still relevant all in one place. We try to keep this as comprehensive as possible while ensuring that it is still accessible and not overwhelming.

5. Community evenings: these are held 3 - 4 times per year and are an important two-way communication mechanism.

6. Text: in the case of emergency, you will be contacted by text if the service is available

5. One-on-one: staff will contact you by phone, text or in person, from time-to-time, as and when they consider it necessary.
